The young designer, Jason Wu, has designed a collection with what he describes as a “minimalist moment”, inspired by the brilliant color and layering of Brazilian artist, Beatriz Milhazes. Taking silhouette references from both the 40’s and 70’s, the effortlessly tailored collection is filled with gorgeous options for Mrs. Obama to choose from. A combination of polished looks with the effortlessness of Latino influences created a luxurious, wearable collection with a lot of life. Texture was everywhere, from the layered prints to the actual design begging the viewers to reach out and touch them. Oversized bows, silk ruffles and bright prints looked both easily wearable and polished.
