The Fall 2011 men’s collections in Milan kicked off this season’s fashion shows, and there were many stand-out moments.
Christopher Bailey’s Burberry Prorsum collection and Raf Simons’ Jil Sander shows were bursting with succulent colors – orange, green, blue, red, fuchsia – offering vibrant twists on classic menswear. For those not up to wearing a bright yellow suit or an orange coat, options also included popping hues peeking out of sweater collars. Fur is also worth singling out, as it played a part in a number of shows including Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermanno Scervino, Alexander McQueen, and Roberto Cavalli. At Burberry, fur adorned coat collars as well as full outerwear looks and, lest we forget, fur also made its way onto the runway on a reoccurring basis via hats.
