Given that Angela Missoni was inspired by fairytale creatures for the Fall 2011 Missoni collection, it should perhaps come as no surprise that the collection felt very spring-like with a light color palette of pastel blues, purples, pinks, yellows, and oranges. It has also been clear that, in Emilio Pucci style, Missoni has for a few seasons now been trying to appeal to a younger demographic. Unfortunately, Angela Missoni isn’t doing it as well as Peter Dundas over at Pucci.

The brand seems to be increasingly relying on a laid-back, layered, almost messy styling, rather than focusing on bringing a new perspective to Missoni’s signature rainbow of colors and knits to widen its appeal. This is truly a shame because there were some gorgeous individual pieces in the Fall 2011 collection that were mired by off-the-mark styling.
