After endless hype Gaga’s Workshop at Barneys New York opened last night at midnight. The lady of the hour was on hand to cut the ribbon wearing a dress made especially for her by Karl Lagerfeld. She accessorized the black trimmed, white tweed dress with Chanel pearls, camelias, and bows. Taking over the entire 5500 square foot fifth floor of the Madison Avenue Men’s Store, the entrance to Gaga’s Workshop is marked by a giant façade encompassing the 60th street entrance, creating the illusion of walking into the mouth of a giant monster-like Lady Gaga. The workshop includes holiday windows and limited edition exclusive products created in collaboration with Lady Gaga under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti (natch) with artists Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson. 25% of sales from all items in the workshop will be donated to the Born This Way Foundation, recently founded and announced by Lady Gaga and her mother.
As of November 22, the workshop will operate during normal Barneys store hours through January 2, with access to the workshop through the 60th street entrance of the Madison Avenue flagship store in New York City. Check out images from the jaw-dropping space below.
