“The Devil Wears Prada” Sequel – It’s Happening

2003’s The Devil Wears Prada was based on Weisberger’s experience as second assistant to Vogue’s Anna Wintour. The novel was told through the eyes of aspiring journalist Andrea “Andy” Sachs, who becomes disillusioned with the superficiality of the fashion industry and with her demanding devil of a boss in particular.

Entertainment Weekly describes what we can expect from the sequel:

“Revenge Wears Prada picks up eight years after Andy parted ways with Miranda on bad terms. Andy is now editing The Plunge, the hottest bridal magazine around, alongside Emily, her one-time Runway nemesis turned current BFF. While Andy is planning her own wedding to Max, a handsome media scion, she remains haunted by her impeccably heeled former boss — and the magazine world being as small as it is, it’s only a matter of time before she hears the dreaded syllables ‘Ahn-dre-ah!’ again.”

Who’s excited?!

I have to admit, I kind of am. Even though my instinctive distrust of sequels is making me leery, I know I’m going to get caught up in the hype and read this next spring. Part of me wouldn’t mind seeing Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep reprise their roles in a film version, but my guess is that The Devil Wears Prada film legacy should remain untarnished. We don’t really want another Sex and the City 2 on our hands, do we?
