Tip #1: Button up an embellished blouse under a brocade dress.

Only Chung could take a straight-off-the-runway look and make it even fresher — and that’s just what she did while hosting the Scottish Fashion Awards, by layering a white blouse with embellished cuffs and collar under a floral brocade Christopher Kane dress. This is a twist she’s well known for, and the way it adds a crisp, boyish element to a feminine look really works. The embellishment on the blouse keeps it in step with the luxe fabrication of the dress. Chung’s suede Gucci loafers complete the look.

It’s even easier to pull off Chung’s mix-and-match look from the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition. She started with a mod, black-and-white sheath with a halter neckline from the Moschino Fall 2012 collection and simple ankle-strap heels. Then, Chung shook up the monochrome look with an unexpected raffia Charlotte Olympia clutch. The clutch’s flamingo appliqué subtly ties in with the whimsical detailing on the dress, and its colorful and quirky style keeps the look from being monotonous.

Tip #3: Add interest to a pencil skirt and knit sweater with metallic heels.

Chung stood out in the front row at Christopher Kane’s exhibition at London Fashion Week. She tempered an Erdem floral pencil skirt with a slouchy knit sweater, but the really eye-catching part of her look is her metallic silver Céline Resort 2012 platform wedges. The mixing of the laid-back knit, prim pencil skirt, and go-go footwear is totally unexpected, but works because of the way the metallics tie in with the shimmer in the skirt. Lose the heavy coat for summer, but make Chung’s eclectic styling your own.
