DONNA KARAN TEAMS WITH CITY HARVEST

I remember walking around Manhattan around last season’s Fashion Week and seeing chained fluorescent orange bikes randomly sprinkled around town. I didn’t know it till afterwards, but the bikes were not at all random.

They were part of Donna Karan’s (via DKNY), effort to encourage people to use environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

This Fashion Week DKNY has teamed-up with a good cause one again. She has partnered with the non-profit City Harvest, which collects and delivers millions of pounds of food to Manhattan’s needy.

So what exactly has the queen of zen done?

She has given 15 City Harvest trucks a makeover, redesigning their exterior in a reflection of the DKNY fall/winter 2008 ad campaign. She has also created a Make-A-Wish necklace with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit City Harvest.

The necklaces can be purchased online at DKNY.com.
