Trend #1: Taste the Rainbow

A rainbow look certainly stands out, but a double rainbow, as we know from certain viral videos, inspires raptures. There was just that phenomenon in Tinseltown recently, with Lucy Liu and Isabel Lucas both wearing statement rainbow dresses. Liu made an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon wearing an asymmetrical cocktail dress by Mary Katrantzou—upon closer examination, the rainbow hues were part of a graphic coral reef print. Meanwhile, Australian actress Isabel Lucas wore a candy-colored confection to the Christian Dior opening in Sydney, with bold bands of pink, orange, green and purple in shimmering tulle. Out of these two colorful stars, which look deserves a pot of gold?
Trend #2: Azzedine Alaia Mermaid Gown

Alicia Keys and Naomi Campbell made a splash last month in Alaia gowns which both featured an updated take on the mermaid hem. At the Grammy Awards, Keys flaunted her figure in a black version with strappy cut-outs on the snakeskin top. Slicked back hair showed off her diamond snake earrings. The structured look of the mermaid skirt was echoed in Campbell’s look at the premiere of Oxygen’s The Face. The model was the yin to Keys’ yang in all white, with diamond bling on her wrist and neck, and sleek straight hair. When it comes to who rocked this look, is the answer as simple as black and white?
Trend #3: The Coat-Dress

Late last month we were watching Michelle Williams on The Late Show with David Letterman and found ourselves asking of her navy Christian Dior number, “Is that a coat? Or a dress? Or both?” Just days later, we asked the same question when Solange Knowles turned up as the show’s musical guest wearing a similar look in polka dots. Both coat-dresses came in a classic navy with double-breasted buttons, long sleeves and a flirty flared skirt. Williams wore her sophisticated piece (can’t you see this on post-baby Princess Kate?) with matching suede Louboutins, while Knowles turned up the fun with a sliver of midriff and T-strap white pumps. You may not be able to answer our original question, but surely you have an opinion about which star rocked this coat…dress.
