Haider Ackermann has an affinity for the word handsome, which tied into the androgynous feel of his Spring 2014 collection.
Done in a dark palette heavy on high-shine metallic shades, there were cigarette pants, long tuxedo jackets, oversized outerwear, loose Bermuda shorts, baggy trousers and a lot of fabric layering. Don’t let the menswear inspiration fool you, however, this was one of the designer’s sexiest outings with plenty of exposed backs, deep V-necklines and bare chests via the use of sheer fabrics and cut-outs. Further, while most of the collection was intricately crafted with layers of chiffon and careful pleats, the designer also offered some minimalist looks via, for example, a strapless black jumper and an off-the-shoulder black dress.
