So, what are we to expect at the Fall 2014 shows? Approximately 80 designers from more than 30 countries are set to show off their treasures, with the likes of Argentinian designer Gabriel Lage, Peruvian designer Noe Bernacelli, South Korean designer Soojin Lee, London-based designers Nadia + Zehra and Peruvian designer Evolét- by Jercy Gutierrez all hopping on long-hauls to attend.
In terms of Canadian talent, Vancouver-based designer Stephanie Hung of Nina Tan will be waving the maple leaf flag with her collection of women’s ready-to-wear along with cocktail and evening dresses. Last season, Hung showed a bold array of blue, cream and red pieces with brocade and lace details, as well as chiffon-printed dresses in shades of lavender. This year, she plans to stick with the ladylike frills and “accentuate the feminine lines of a women’s body by making pieces that both look good and feel good.”
Also rounding out the home team is Vancouver-based designers Evan Clayton, Dandi Wind Opaine, Grandi’s Atelier and JFG Designs, Toronto designer Garde Del Avante, Thunder Bay resident Lisa Loveday and Ottawa designer Sonya Jang. You can check out the very comprehensive lineup over at VFW’s site and remember that tickets start from just $30 for a double show pass.
