Confirmed! Maison Martin Margiela Hires John Galliano

John Galliano is back in the game. Following weeks of speculation, the designer has signed on the dotted line with Maison Martin Margiela, says WWD. He is expected to oversee ready-to-wear for men and women as well as couture.

This is Galliano’s first full-time post since being handed a pink slip at Christian Dior and his namesake label in 2011 after a racist rant at a Parisian cafe. In 2013, the 53-year-old creative dipped his toe back into the design pool when he landed a three-week residency at Oscar de la Renta. Rumors of a permanent position were whispered, but never confirmed by either party. Last month, the designer served as the creative director for L’Etoile and mentored four students at London’s Central Saint Martins.

Galliano’s official debut for Maison Martin Margiela will be Paris Haute Couture Week in January.
