Aussie Model Ajak Deng Quits the Industry, Hits Out At “The Fakes and the Lies”

“I will be moving back to Australia In order to live the life that I fully deserved. Which is real life,” she wrote on Instagram.

Just days ago, Stephen Bucknell of Deng’s management FRM Model Management told the Herald Sun that Deng would’ve really liked to book more jobs locally in Australia but there are very few roles for “dark skinned” models here.

“Ajak has said to me many times, it saddens her there isn’t more work for dark skinned girls in Australia, as she would like to book more work here,” he said.

“They’ll book the big caucasian girls, spend the big dollars, and fly them in from LA, but I’m yet to see them book a dark skinned girl in that way.”

Deng, who has over 72,000 followers on Instagram, has taken to the platform following her announcement to tell fans, “I am good and very happy with my decision.”

At the time of the announcement she told everyone, “I can no longer deal with the fakes and the lies.”

“My life is too short for this dramatic life.”

She will feature in 2016 campaigns for Givenchy and Marc Jacobs but it seems they will be her final stints. It is unknown what she plans to move on to next.
