From crazy 3-D nail art to bare, buffed tips, nail trends have varied quite drastically over the seasons. While some trends are beyond our skill level and only offered at specialty nail salons, this spring offers a trend that even the most manicure-challenged can accomplish. Stripes are far from new, but this season, accent stripes on one or more nails will take your manicure from boring to über chic in a simple stroke. We asked celebrity manicurist Gina Edwards how to recreate this minimalist nail art look at home. “The accent nail is the perfect addition to your existing manicure and can be carried through your business work week to your weekend fun,” says Edwards. We like this look because it’s fuss-free and simple. You can rock it over your favorite lacquer or atop your naked nail.
Edwards says the key to creating this nail art look is in the tools. If you prefer to freehand, try a nail kit that gives you a variety of brushes and tools to draw on lines with your favorite polish.
