7 Makeup Trends From the Spring 2020 Runways We Can’t Wait to Try
80s Glam
The decade was alive and surprisingly chic at Tom Ford where makeup artist Diane Kendal blended shades from Tom Ford's Eye Quad in Nude Dip ($88) to create the smoky eye. A neutral lip and just the right amount of cheek sculpting kept the throwback vibes in check.
80s Glam
Tory Burch's inspiration for her Spring 2020 collection revolved around Princess Diana circa the 80s. So Diane Kendal played into the theme with a posh no-makeup makeup look featuring the faintest dusting of shimmer on the eyes and a tiny eyeliner flick.
80s Glam
Jeremy Scott doesn't do things halfway so we were treated to candy-colored graphic eye makeup created using plenty of glitter and black liner.
80s Glam
The 80s were in full effect at Mark Fast where models' faces were decked out with multiple neon shadows and a liberal amount of bubblegum pink blush. And we can't forget the scrunchies .
Euphoria Everywhere
The Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 show featured unique beauty looks on every single model, but there was still a magical overall theme thanks to makeup artist Pat McGrath's liberal use of shimmering shadows and rhinestones.
Euphoria Everywhere
Pyer Moss really nailed the whimsical, cutting edge aesthetic of the hit TV show via red eyeshadow, blush draping and swirls of coordinating diamantés encircling models' eyes.
Euphoria Everywhere
Face embellishments and sweeps of bright color made up the makeup look at Anna Sui. Makeup artist Pat McGrath put her stamp on Gen Z beauty with a modern Victoriana spin.
Euphoria Everywhere
Don't be afraid to color outside the lines a la Diane Kendal at Jason Wu. The makeup was inspired by a summer garden blooming, but it definitely had a Euphoria feel. Kendal used the Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette ($10.99) to create the look. She blended Ice Pop on the eyes and cheeks, then used Main Squeeze as an accent color on models' lids and Lemonade Craze on the outer corners.
Gimme Glitter
House of Holland relied on liberal sweeps of lilac, lime green and ultraviolet glitter to make models' eyes pop. Global Senior Artist at MAC Cosmetics Dominic Skinner's 70s disco meets 90s rave culture look definitely worked.
Gimme Glitter
The glitter at Fendi wasn't in your face, but it didn't get lost in the shuffle. The intentional sparkle fallout eyes had a whimsical 2000s vibe, especially combined with those twisted updos.
Gimme Glitter
Can't get enough sparkle? Check out the makeup look at Frankie Morello. It was like a glitter bomb to the face — and we mean that in the best possible way.
Gimme Glitter
Select models got a sprinkling of silver glitter between their eyes at Off-White courtesy of makeup artist Fara Homidi. It fit perfectly into the collection's meteor shower theme.
Redder-Than-Red Lips
The painted hair at Moschino was unconventional, but didn't completely distract from the classic red lipstick and flick of eyeliner. Makeup artist Kabuki used MAC Cosmetics' Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Feels So Grand ($22).
Redder-Than-Red Lips
There was a surprise slick of green apple lipstick at Emilia Wickstead, but there was no missing this classic red shade. Makeup artist Lucy Bridge custom made the saturated color .
Redder-Than-Red Lips
The red lips at the Prabal Gurung Spring 2020 show also stood out.
Redder-Than-Red Lips
Who knew tomato red lips and coordinating blush could be so glamorous? The voluminous hair at Badgley Mischka only boosted the glam vibe.
Painterly Shadow
At Salvatore Ferragamo, makeup artist Fara Homidi took inspo from the Venetian glass-inspired accessories to create a painterly eye using MAC Cosmetics' Pro Palette Paintstick ($70) topped with Lipglass ($17.50). The unconventional color choice was inspired by, yes, the 80s.
Painterly Shadow
Iceberg brought pastel dreams to models' eyes with dabs of sugary sweet shadows. Sometimes the hairstyles mimicked the effect.
Painterly Shadow
Maybelline New York Global Makeup Artist Erin Parsons made the eyes (and forehead) the canvas at Christian Siriano where she used Maybelline's The City Kits All-in-One Eye + Cheek Palette ($11.99) and Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette ($10.99) to create the dramatic lewk.
Painterly Shadow
Nicole Miller brought the fire with shades of hot red, orange, yellow and glittering gold swept across models' eyes.
Neon Dreams
Electric shades of yellow, royal blue and fiery red were dabbed on the inner and outer corners of models' eyes at Jonathan Cohen for a graphic brushstroke effect. Makeup artist Yuki Hayashi revealed contemporary abstract paintings were the inspiration behind the look.
Neon Dreams
Oscar de la Renta proved that two shades of neon are better than one. Models wore arresting combos of saturated colors, including this vivid yellow and orange winged look.
Neon Dreams
Those new to neon makeup can start slowly with an opaque eyeshadow concentrated on the lids like at MSGM. Shocking pink, royal blue and yellow brought color to otherwise natural faces.
Neon Dreams
The Helmut Lang Spring 2020 show demonstrated that only a touch of neon is needed to make a statement. Squared-off liner flicks came in multiple colors, from this striking kelly green to shocking pink.
Bold Black
Prada ticked two major beauty trends by contrasting high-octane red lipstick with an opaque sweep of black shadow above creases. Note how lids were left bare.
Bold Black
When models didn't have realistic feathers drawn on the bridges of their noses at Simone Rocha, they had wispy, feather-like black eyeliner scrawled across their eyes.
Bold Black
The eyes definitely had it at Halpern. Makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench painted on MAC Cosmetics' Pro Longwear Fluidline gel liner in Blacktrack ($19) in a curved shape and topped it with holographic black glitter to imitate retro sunglasses from Studio 54's heyday.
Bold Black
We got a slight reprieve from 80s beauty at Ralph & Russo where models sported black crease liner and drawn-on lashes for a modern mod vibe.
