Glamour is always a good idea and British Vogue gives us just that with the unveiling of its October 2020 cover. A fresh face on the cover of one of our favorite fashion glossies is always a welcome sight and Edward Enninful certainly has a knack for picking cover stars. After all, Lupita Nyong’o, Irina Shayk and Jodie Comer have all made their debuts on the British fashion bible this year and now Emma Corrin makes her first cover appearance. Photographed by Charlotte Wales and styled by Poppy Kain, the actress, who plays Princess Diana in The Crown’s upcoming season, transports us back to the 80s wearing a royal blue Oscar de la Renta gown, Christian Louboutin heels and jewels from Chaumet.
But the cover failed to captivate our forum members. “Crikey, the art direction! I’m sorry, but this is unforgivable. How on earth did it pass so many eyes?” wondered Benn98.
“The art direction is all sorts of awful, the garden backdrop reminds me of British Harper’s Bazaar and I dislike the use of a full-length portrait as opposed to a clear-cut close-up introducing Emma Corrin to the circuit for the cover,” voiced vogue28.
“I can’t believe this was their best option for a cover. Nothing works here! What a shame. Such a missed opportunity to do a stunning tribute to Diana,” aracic chimed in.

LastNight also disapproved of the outcome: “Awful cover. What on earth is happening with the type and layout? It’s so bad. An absolute eyesore…”
“Oh, goodness. Everything leaves much to be desired. Imagine having that budget and yet failing to hire a decent art director,” mocked MON.
“I think this might well be one of the worst British Vogue covers I’ve ever seen. I literally despise it,” added honeycombchild.
“Perfect for advertising deodorant — one that doesn’t stain your 80s prom dress! And is vegan!” declared YohjiAddict.
