Vogue France November 2021 : Aya Nakamura by Carlijn Jacobs

Aya Nakamura Exceeds Expectations on Vogue France’s First Cover

It’s official. Vogue Paris has become Vogue France with Eugénie Trochu heading up the French fashion bible after Emmanuelle Alt‘s departure with the unveiling of last month’s 100th anniversary issue. Change remains in the air as the magazine’s offering for November 2021 welcomes Aya Nakamura as Vogue France’s first cover star. As speculated on our forums, the French-Malian singer helps usher in the publication’s new era with a bold and visually-arresting cover image taken by Carlijn Jacobs. Aya serves Grace Jones realness showcasing a dramatic and showstopping number from Balenciaga’s Fall 2021 Haute Couture collection chosen by stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson.

The inaugural cover took our forum members by surprise. “I was disheartened about the demise of Vogue Paris and slightly apprehensive to what Vogue France would bestow upon us, but this is truly beautiful!” confessed thestylisha.

“My one and only true fashion magazine from the get-go has been Vogue Paris, I’ve spent years defending Emmanuelle Alt and the sudden name change and the fact Alt is out STILL feels like a kick in the stomach, but there’s no denying the fact this is a strong cover,” echoed vogue28.
