While some of the runway looks may have been a bit extreme, there are plenty of ways to translate a boldly colorful lip into everyday looks. One of the biggest trends for lip color at the moment is plum.
I may not believe the claim that beauty brands make when they say their shades are “universally flattering,” but from experience, plum is about as universally flattering as I’ve seen a lip shade get (thank you, Tom Ford Moroccain Rouge and Hourglass Fresco!),
When opting for lips with bold, out-of-the-box colors, it’s important to keep the rest of your look on the neutral side. The one exception is if you’re opting for a light beige, white, or nude lip, in which case you’ll want to play up your eye color.
Given that Fashion Week makes even those outside of the industry up their style-consciousness ante, there’s no better time than now to experiment with new shades.
Here are some non-sticky, long-lasting, high-impact shades – aside from Fresco and Moroccain Rouge — that look just as good in their box as they do on your lips.
