Designer Timo Weiland told me that his, and co-designer Alan Eckstein’s, Fall 2011 collection was inspired by an idea that they had of Gloria Vanderbilt and Keith Richards coming back from Colonial India in the 60s. The inspiration points came through in both hair and makeup as the jovial Napoleon Perdis excitedly exclaimed that he was working on a modernized Indian princess makeup look.
Perdis used Napoleon Complex Skin Renewal Serum to prep the models skin, Auto Pilot Primer and Pore Minimizer Mattifier to prime their skin and Stick Foundation, Mighty Concealer pen, and Camera Finish were then all used to cover-up any imperfections. Mesmer Mascara was used for the lashes; Cheek to Chic Blush Duo #2 in Pink was the blush of choice, while Ultimate Contour Palette Shade was used to contour and Ultimate Contour Palette Highlight was used to highlight the skin. NP Set Washington was used on the models’ lips; Eye Pencil Brown Sugar for brows, Crème de Crème Shadow Fools Gold for the models’ mobile lid, Color Disc Amazon Jungle for the socket, Color Disc White Wedding for the brow bone, and China Doll Gel Eyeliner Alabaster and Loose Dust Star Light were used on the eye line.
As for hair, ION co-owner Leonardo Manetti created a “messy, but not too messy” look with a deep, secured side part. Hair was straightened with just a little bit of texture left in and finished with Davines Defining Creative Moulding Foam, Defining Gloss, and Invisible Hair Spray.
