Jessica Lauren has been in the business of painting faces for over 12 years. She’s done editorial work, made up celebrities, worked on television show sets, and her newest gig is the grand opening of Studio Tres Jolie, a luxury makeup studio and spa on Long Island, NY. She’s a MAC Pro member who is constantly on the quest for the latest and greatest makeup trends.
I asked Jessica my three favorite beauty questions. Here’s what she had to say:
INDUSTRY BREAK: I broke into the beauty industry after I completed school at Pamela Taylor’s Makeup Academy of NYC. I worked at several high-end salons on the North Shore of Long Island, until one day, I decided to open a a makeup counter of my own. After a few years of owning a makeup counter, I decided I wanted to have a studio but also be able to provide my clients with excellent skincare services, so I decided six months ago to launch a makeup studio and spa in an area that is like the 5th avenue of New York only in Manhasset, located right next to Vera Wang Bridal.
Giorgio Armani‘s lasting silk UV foundation – I love a product that protects the skin from the sun. The coverage is beautiful, keeping areas like the t-zone free of shine. It makes the skin look flawless.
Jane Iredale‘s pressed mineral powder – Great alone when used with a kabuki brush, or to top foundations used with a big powder brush to set.
Christian Dior‘s five color eyeshadow palettes – Whichever color you’re in the mood for – purples, greens, browns, etc – there is a palette laid out perfectly for you. I love that there are perfect shades to do a nice day look and darker shades for an evening look. The texture of the shadows are smooth, and go on effortlessly.
Chanel lip glosses – I love the variety of colors and the fact that each one looks great alone or over your lipstick. I’m addicted.
Covergirl Lash Blast – Yes, this is my cheap find, but I love it. I get the best application, lashes do not stick together, and they come out very full!
FAVORITE LOOK YOU’VE CREATED: My most favorite look I created was when a few of my clients asked me to make them into the band KISS. I did it all free-hand, and it came out amazing.
