Your Guide to this Spring's Strong Eyes
-
Extra Dark and Smokey
Extra dark and smokey was the theme for both Gucci and Rodarte’s eye-makeup. Best left for those who like the spotlight, this eye makeup choice will take any look, no matter the outfit, and shoot it up several notches in the notice-me factor. Because of the dark colors, make sure to keep the rest of your face bare by skipping on blush and working a sheer lip. This moody makeup looks best with colorful frocks like the electric blue and purple hues seen at Rodarte. Avoid wearing all black, as the Gothic look is best kept for the colder months.

The Dark Kohl
To achieve the dark eyes seen on the runway, use a kohl pencil beginning from the lash line halfway up to the eyelid. Be sure to then set the kohl pencil with a dark shadow. CoverGirl's Smokey Shadow Blast in smoke is a great product to achieve the sultry smokey eye look and comes at a great price.

A Pop of Color
After applying the kohl pencil, set lids with a dark shadow to build up color and edginess. Then add a metallic shade to the center of your eyes for a shimmery touch. Givenchy’s Le Prisme Mono Eyeshadow in Dressy Indigo will give your lids that extra pop while adding the finishing touches to your bold eye makeup. The colors in this palette are exquisite and build up beautifully against each other. The striking shades can also be worn alone for a much more laid-back look.

Full Sparkle at DSquared2
While the foils used for eye makeup at the Fendi Spring 2012 show were daring and golden, the glitter on steroids look is best left for the runway. Instead, opt for a toned down version of the eye makeup seen at the DSquared show, which is more functional and practical when applying the makeup yourself. To achieve this look, prep your skin with moisturizer and matte foundation for a flawless finish. Also, be sure to keep the rest of your face matte in order to avoid looking like a giant disco ball. The sparkling touch is sexy and playful, and contrasts beautifully with spring's floral motifs.

The Multiple Shimmer
To recreate the looks seen at DSquared, first apply a shimmery cream powder to the entire eye area like Nars' The Multiple in Laguna. The shimmery bronze shade will prep and warm your eyes before the onset of glitter. You can also wear this alone for a softer, but still sparkly, look. Nars The Multiple sticks are a must beauty product for every cosmetic bag as they function also as a highlighter and face sculptor. Keep this stick handy in your bag to touch up your makeup throughout the day.

Diamonds for Your Eyes
If you want to go even further with the glitter trend, opt for these round crystals that create a sparkling jeweled effect. Place these over shimmery eye makeup for a full-blown glitter stare. You can also use these as an alternative eyeliner by placing them on your lash line instead. Regardless of how you place them, these gems will give you a hit of sparkle every time you wink. Make Up For Ever's Strass crystals come in several colors, which you can combine for added fun. Strass can be used anywhere on the face and body, and as as an enhancer.

The Graphic Lines
Marios Schwab’s Graphic Eyeliner seen on the Spring runway is the easiest look to pull off and replicate. And even if your hand isn't perfectly sturdy to create a straight line, a messier finish works as it looks sexy and effortless. Consider adding a cat eye to this look for extra minx appeal. Also, make sure to have Q-tips and eye makeup remover on hand in order to erase inevitable mistakes. Pair with a strong and bright lip color like fuchsia or coral.

The Ideal Eye Base
To achieve the makeup look from the Marios Schwab runway show, first apply a neutral colored base all over your eyelid. Clinique's Touch Base for Eyes is a versatile creamy eye shadow that can work alone or as a base to any eye shadow. This functional creamy formula will stay put without creasing until you wash it out. The neutral hue is the perfect background for a black graphic liner.

The Bold Liner
After prepping your lids with a base, slowly line your eyes with a dark eyeliner, in either pencil, brush, or liquid. Stila's All Day Liquid Eyeliner is easy to glide on and stays put until you wash it off. Not only is this liner smudge-free, the thin marker tip is great for makeup beginners. The end result is a perfect dark bold line that can be increased to emphasize your lids.
