The Grammys are known as the awards show where the stars take risks. We have come to expect the insane and that goes for beauty as well. There were some definite misses last night, both boring and outrageous, but some unexpected hits as well. Here are a few of our favorite looks from the night.
Retro Lips, Wavy Locks, and More Stellar Beauty from the Grammys
Esperanza Spalding
Many would look to Solange Knowles for the biggest hair of the night, and she did represent admirably, but we were taken with Esperanza's look because she balanced evening appropriate makeup with her statement hair.

Florence Welch
Not one to be a wallflower, we always expect big things from Florence and she didn't disappoint. The slightly grunge shading around the eye and moody lip paired beautifully with the rich jewel tone of her dress.

Rihanna
On anyone else, this look would be unremarkable but given the constant dramatic shifts and changes in Rihanna's appearance, we love this softer, more feminine look on her.

Kat Dennings
Few people can rock a dark lip like Kat with her porcelain skin and big personality but this look, with its retro eye and well groomed brow, is great even for her.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is sure to get a lot of slack for the Heidi braid, but we think this is a very modern interpretation that doesn't make her look silly (as most milkmaid braids do). A note for girls with bangs, this look is for you!

Kaley Cuoco
Now it's not exactly clear why she was at the Grammys but Kaley went rock chick through and through and we loved her mussed up waves and smoky eye.

Carrie Underwood
She looked a bit plastic in the face but we were swooning over Carrie's polished and perfect curls. Wonder how many times she had to shampoo this morning to get all that product out?

Alexa Chung
We often don't associate Alexa with strong beauty looks but this updated retro style suits her perfectly. Where most would pair a slick cat eye with a bold lip, her smoked out version was fresh and modern. Perfect for the occasion.

Miranda Lambert
I think we would all agree that the red carpet 'Mani Cam' is a bad idea and super uncomfortable to watch but we'd be remiss if we didn't mention Miranda's geometric nail art. She might be a few months (or years) behind the trend but the country star wore it well.
