After being shown the newest cosmetics in the product pipeline — Creaseless cream shadows, Longwear powder shadow, Ultra plush lip gloss and Fake-up hydrating concealer (out March 5) — Benefit makeup guru Maddox Lu took us through a demonstration on how to do a fabulous face. Using three diverse models. He advised on the best shadows for different skin tones, while offering tips and tricks on how best to achieve the same look at home.
Blue My Mind for Pale Tones: Maddox suggests the “blue my mind” cream shadow, followed by “holy smokes” applied to the crease, but avoiding the outer eye. He added a lick of “magic ink” eyeliner to the upper lash, before finishing with the brand’s bestseller, the irreverently named “they’re real” mascara.
Quick Look Busy for Medium Tone: Maddox used the Facebook relationship status-themed “it’s complicated” shadow, followed by “quick look busy” on the inner and outer corners, and a smudge of “nude swings” on the lower lash. He again followed with “they’re real” with a “fine-one-one” on cheeks bones.
Bronze Have More Fun for Deep Tones: Purple was the secret ingredient here as Maddox swept “always the bridesmaid” (I can relate to that one as all my school friends post wedding pics) across lids, followed by “pause for applause” on the inner corners. He further opened up the eye with “raincheck” in the outer corner, adding a smudge of “bronze have more fun” to the lower lash and, of course, completing it all with a few brushes of “they’re real.”
So what you waiting for? On your mark, get set and go ahead in guiltlessly posting those social media selfies! Duck face optional.
