Who: Cate Blanchett
Where: Rodeo Drive Walk Of Style Awards
Why we like it: If the recent collections are any indication, and we can guarantee they will be, the lower lash line is the preferred canvas for color for Fall 2014. Many of the looks we’ve seen have been daring, but count on red carpet icon Cate Blanchett to convince us that a colorful lash line can look as classy as it can clownish. This pewter-toned amethyst color works perfectly with the peach accents and is a great alternative to the standard smoky eye.
How to get it at home: Start with a base that will boost the texture of your skin, such as Marc Jacobs’ Marvelous Mousse Transformative Foundation ($55), then add some warmth and glow to the skin with Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion ($35). Get Cate’s cool aubergine toned eye with a shadow, such as Stila’s Jewel Eye Shadow in Amethyst ($20). If you’re looking for a deeper color payoff, or simply more control, try applying the shadow with a damp angled liner brush. It will be much easier to focus the color, especially across the lower lash line, and you’ll limit any product fall out. Top off your eyes with a lengthening mascara, such as Lancome’s Definicils High Definition Mascara ($27.50), and finish your look with a slick of peach-toned lipstick, such as the classic Honolulu Honey Lipstick by NARS ($26).
