The Only 5 Hairstyles You Need to Have the Single Best Summer Ever

Twisted
Carey Mulligan wore this easy alternative to the topknot in Cannes. Separate the hair above your ears and twist in an upward motion until you get a chic little hair rope. Pin in place above the bottom section. Then separate it into two small buns and pin in place.

View From the Top
We think Justin is a fan of her look. And we love the deep side part that also adds a modern element to pulled back style.

All The Pretty Waves
You can create this look from the Diane von Furstenberg spring runway while you sleep. After your nightly shower, let hair air dry until it's only slightly damp. Separate into sections that are about one- to two-inches thick. Braid and secure loosely with hair ties. Wake up to easy, pretty waves and finish with shine spray.

Loose Ties
So what do you do when your waves were done yesterday and you don't feel like doing your hair over again? Just loosely braid it and finish off with a ribbon, a la Zoe Saldana. To get the look, let a few pieces of hair stay out of the braid. Throw the rest over to one side and start the braid at about earlobe height.

Straight Talk
We can't wear waves every day, right? Sometimes we crave the sleek straight style only our flat irons can achieve. But we don't want to do that five days a week. Make your straight style last by adding a simply barrette at the front, as seen here on Donna Karan's Spring 2014 runway.

Short Cut
Zoe Saldana has been killing it on the red carpet with easy styles, so we couldn't help but include her faux bob look. Why chop off all the length you spent so long growing out? The trick is to separate hair into two main sections: top and bottom. Pin up the top for later. As for the bottom layer, create two or three small buns or twists that you pin across the nape of your neck. This is the base to roll the top section over and under. If you like, create loose waves first. This doesn't have to be perfect, loose pieces make it feel modern. For a casual twist, don't be afraid to let your bobby pins show.
