To get my urban inspiration for my Sally Hansen #iHeartNailArt “LIQUID MANI-A” nail design, I walked along my neighborhood railroad tracks and I discovered some amazing graffiti art. This tribal piece inspired the main focus of my design; I loved the shapes and angles and thought it would be perfect to translate into a nail design.
For the middle nail, I split the nail design in half painted the top with Sally Hansen Triple Shine “Vanity Flare” and the bottom with Sally Hansen Triple Shine “Dive In”. Using the “I Heart Nail Art” Tools Kit Dotter and the “I Heart Nail Art” Pen in Black, I incorporated dots, curves and black lines to emulate the tribal print.
I walked along the railroad to an overpass where there were multicolored paint drips streaming down cement columns. Since this month’s theme for the Sally Hansen #iHeartNailArt Contest is “LIQUID MAN-IA,” I knew it would be perfect! To make the pink paint drips, I used the “I Heart Nail Art” NEON in “Pretty In Hot Pink”. To make the drips stand out in an almost 3D effect, I added some subtle white highlights using the “I Heart Nail Art” Striper in “White”.
I didn’t want the design to be too busy, so to balance out the look, “Dive In” was applied to the thumbnail and “Pretty In Hot Pink” were added as base colors for the index and pinky. Black studs from the “I Heart Nail Art” Embellishment/Studs Kit were added to the index and pinky for a glam effect. Since the thumb was a bit bare, I used the I Heart Nail Art Pen to make a fun dripping paint heart with White highlights for dimension.
