There’s nothing like leaving the salon with a fresh blowout to make you feel like a million bucks. Walking around with shiny, bouncy and selfie-ready hair tends to give us a little pep in our step, too. But then there’s the price tag of a visit to your favorite hair guru and the stress of scheduling it during a lunch break or in between brunch and your workout. Oh, the beauty struggle is real! No need to fret though, we’ve enlisted the help of Bumble and bumble’s Allen Wood — and trust us, he knows his stuff (he recently styled this Catbird x Bumble and bumble Instagram collaboration that we are obsessed with and dying to recreate). Wood gave us his expertise on taming the frizz and perfecting a silky blowout without the need to schedule an appointment.

Deep Clean Hair
"Make sure to start with super clean hair so your blowout will last longer. Wash hair twice and only condition from mid-shaft of hair to ends. By not conditioning the roots, hair stays light and bouncy."
Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Shampoo and Conditioner, $24 each at Nordstrom

Find the Right Styling Products
"Choose styling aids wisely! Make sure you use the best product for your hair type — for example, if you have very fine/straight hair, go for Bumble and bumble's Thickening Hairspray ($28) that will give you lots of body and hold. If you have curly hair, choose something smoothing or hydrating like Bumble and bumble's Defrizz ($28) or Repair Blow Dry Balm ($30)."

Technique Tips
"Section hair into four quads. Then grip hair with a round boar bristle brush, while pulling down the underside of each section of hair, following it with your blow dryer so that the airflow is downward. This will ensure a smooth finish. Each section should also be 100 percent dry. If your hair is even slightly damp, it will frizz and won’t hold your style."
Drybar Hold Me Hair Clips, $16 at Sephora; Philip B Stroke of Genius Round Brush, $75 at Net-a-Porter

Finishing Touches
"Lock in smoothness and tame thick or curly hair with a pea-size amount of shine serum on ends or use a texturizing spray on thinner hair for extra volume."
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, $42 at Neiman Marcus; Kérastase K Touche Finale Polishing Serum, $32 at Drugstore.com
