BCBGMaxAzria’s Spring 2016 collection was a whirl of color, print and texture, so for the hair and makeup, the fashion house decided to keep things simple. This season, the label drew inspiration from the mythic California girl — beachy waves, barely-there makeup (with a rocker touch) and nude, almost completely naked nails. Makeup artist Val Garland conceived the fresh-faced look with the TEMPTU Air system.

“We prepped the skin with TEMPTU Base Smooth & Matte Primer to make it look flawless and healthy. Then we used TEMPTU Air to apply TEMPTU Airpod Foundation all over the skin, making it look beautiful and gorgeous. To enhance models’ natural definition and contour, we applied TEMPTU Airpod Highlighter in Champagne around each orbital bone and TEMPTU Airpod Bronzer in Warm Glow along the cheekbones. We then used TEMPTU Invisible Difference Finishing Powder in Medium down the T-zone. The look for eyes is very rock ‘n’ roll. We applied black kohl eyeliner in the waterline and lots of mascara. To finish the look, we applied TEMPTU Color True Lip Gloss to give the lips a real hydrated-looking finish.”
Lead manicurist Cinnamon Bowser walked us through the natural nail look, achieved using Zoya’s Naked Manicure kit, which helps correct damage and discoloration of the nail. “We used Naked Manicure on the fingers without the white perfector tip, so it just looks like a perfectly clean, natural nail. The inspiration for the show is the California girl, easy breezy, not too done and bohemian, so this is a perfect nail for that look. We added a satin finish so that it looks like her skin — not glossy, not matte. On the toes, we’re doing Avery, which is a nice opaque nude color that’s very natural and complements all the skin tones in the show.”
