Good ol’ bangs have gone through a massive transformation in 2018. While baby bangs were clearly the show-stopping look last year, shaggy bangs and curly bangs were also trending. And for the commitment-averse but trend-addicted, faux bangs became a viable option, with celebrities showing us exactly how to pull them off. But with the momentum of 2018’s bangin’ styles taking us through the New Year, 2019 might be the Year of the Bang.
Bangs are a risk, but not if you do your homework first. Any stylist would tell you that it’s very important to know the kinds of bangs that work for your face. Stars like Bella Hadid, Emily Ratajkowski, Emma Watson and Dakota Johnson took on the bangs challenge and nailed the look flawlessly.
A few starting pointers: Plain choppy bangs are more or less on their way out. As is playing it safe with your fringe — regular bangs simply won’t do. Plain wispy bangs and blunt bangs have taken a back seat while effortless, wavy bangs are going seriously mainstream.
Ahead, the new wave of bang styles to carry you through 2019.

Maisie Williams
Maisie's unstyled, semi-wavy bangs work incredibly well, all thanks to her hair color. If you are aiming for a bedhead look with your bangs, add some texture to your hair in the form of light waves or curls.
