Look-at-me looks that wouldn’t look out of place in the 80s. The famous unabashed excess the decade is known for was represented everywhere, from hair to makeup. Before you cringe, know that these looks are bold, but not super cheesy. To go along with the 80s revival, bright makeup was also a fixture at many shows. Fruity pops of color decorated eyes and lips with multiple striking shades paired together. There was also a whimsical, artsy approach reminiscent of Euphoria‘s eye-catching beauty looks. Leave it to Tom Ford to make crimping chic. The look played into 80s beauty by going in a glam, new wave direction. Lead hairstylist Duffy created the effect by using plenty of mousse in the triple-knotted updos.

Models at Oscar de la Renta were given two-tone cat eyes that extended back to the hairline. It's a toss-up which color combo was prettier: this kelly green and hot pink one or the electric yellow and orange version.

The black eyeliner game was strong at 3.1 Phillip Lim. Makeup artist Diane Kendal filled in the entire lid with eyeliner. From afar, it looked like straight black liner, but she used different colors from the UZ 7 Shades of Black range.

Spring definitely sprung at Prabal Gurung. Hairstylist Laurent Philippon for Bumble and bumble adorned select wet-look hairstyles with floral headpieces. Makeup was kept understated to keep the focus on the blooms.

Jeremy Scott
It wouldn't be NYFW without Jeremy Scott bringing all the color and drama. For Spring 2020, the designer drew inspiration from the 80s cartoon Jem and the Holograms. Everything was extra, from the fluorescent wigs to the nail art. The latter was decorated with different zany prints courtesy of Miss Pop.

We were crying happy tears over the delicate rhinestone embellishment under models' eyes at this show. There's no need for much else.

Models were literally starry-eyed at Anna Sui. Makeup master Pat McGrath made the eyes the statement, decking them out with everything from hot pink eyeshadow to star embellishments to rhinestones to looping white wings. Those who find the look too OTT for real life can just try the romantic half updo.
