It’s fair to say we’ve had a love/hate relationship with Allure throughout 2018. Our forums have worshiped the paper the publication is printed on when it’s given us stunning covers starring Rihanna, Bella Hadid, Lupita Nyong’o and a trio of Asian beauties. On the other hand, our forums weren’t afraid to call out the magazine’s disastrous covers featuring Angela Bassett, Sasha Lane and Adwoa Aboah. It’s only fair, right?
Nicole Kidman gets the honor of closing out the year on Allure‘s December 2018/January 2019 cover, captured on location in Cabo, Mexico by Vicki King. The actress looks effortless and undone (a far cry from her recent over-Photoshopped Marie Claire cover appearance) in an electric blue dress styled by Beth Fenton.
Members of our forums were quick to dissect Allure‘s latest. “Awful! I get what they were trying to go for, but the shot is unflattering and not worthy of a cover. The styling accents are obscured – why not show that dress off in a better way, or at least the earrings?” asked Benn98.
“Poor thing, that hair is a mess,” said Perickles.
“Why do they keep giving Nicole covers? I don’t get it. It doesn’t sell, she became a meme, nobody cares,” slammed EstefaniaAbaddon.

“Are you kidding me? Nicole is still one of the best and most popular actresses ever and a beauty/fashion icon. Of course she’s still getting covers,” anlabe32 fired back.
Miss Dalloway agreed, saying, “This one actually works, they try so hard these days, but here there is something so naturally fresh about the shot, I can’t help and love it. It has a certain element of spontaneity.”
“An ‘undone’ Nicole with wild hair is like the girl we used to know,” added tigerrouge.
Kokobombon was also a fan: “I love this, only because I wasn’t expecting to recognize her when I clicked on the thread.”
