Madonna Makes a Triumphant Return to the Cover of British Vogue

Edward Enninful’s British Vogue may just be the hottest magazine on the market right now. He’s managed to revolutionize the British fashion bible since day one by championing diversity cover after cover. And he’s put out covers featuring Oprah Winfrey, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Adut Akech and Naomi Scott. Continuing to make his mark, Enninful secured none other than Madonna for June 2019. The legendary songstress returns to the cover after 30 years in an unconventional black and white shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Styled by Benjamin Bruno, Madonna strikes a pose in the bathtub wearing Michael Kors Collection.

We’ll race you down to the newsstand for this one. “Oh this is STUNNING! M&M delivered the goods,” applauded mepps.

“What a perfect cover! I love EVERYTHING about this, especially since this kinda beautiful melancholy cover is the last thing I would have expected from U.K. Vogue or Madonna!” approved Miss Dalloway.

“I love it. She doesn’t look too bloated or too airbrushed to death and I’m thankful,” shared Scotty.

“You know, I looked at this cover a couple of times and I realize that each time I look at it, it grows on me. At the end of the day, this is a classic Madonna look, classic Madonna vibe from this cover. Really tasteful coming from her and M&M,” noted a pleasantly surprised dontbeadrag.

Sharing the same enthusiasm was [Piece Of Me]: “This is absolutely stunning and suits the Madame X era so well. In general, I am just very glad to see her on the cover without a bondage theme. Yes Madonna!”

Although not everyone felt the same way. “I’m hoping there’s another cover because this is very underwhelming,” declared Blayne266.

“Why does everything look so fan-made? The odd art direction, the colours, the lack of actual fashion in favour of the subject — no doubt she demanded this image be used. After all this hype, this fell flat,” critiqued Benn98.
