Over the last 12 months, the covers of British ELLE have been extremely hit or miss. Covers featuring Claudia Schiffer, Margarita Gambles and Adwoa Aboah thrilled to no end, while covers starring Florence Pugh, Dua Lipa and Alicia Vikander almost made us want to boycott the magazine. As we head into a brand new year, the title throws things into high gear with a groundbreaking January 2021 cover. Model Aweng Ade-Chuol and wife Alexus Ade-Chuol grace the mag’s latest installment sharing an embrace in the bold and powerful photograph. The pair are caught sporting polka dot looks from Saint Laurent’s upcoming Spring 2021 collection before the lens of Meinke Klein.
The cover took our forum members by surprise. “This is so beautiful,” praised caioherrero.
“There are two women of color kissing and loving each other. Sign me the f*ck up. This is great,” applauded thatsfierce.
“Quite surprised to see such a groundbreaking cover from British ELLE, but I applaud Farrah Storr and team!” voiced vogue28.

“I love the art direction on this, even if I would hate it elsewhere, it’s so ELLE,” said A.D.C.
“I love how their heads create a subtle heart,” MON pointed out.
Benn98 also loves how the cover turned out: “It’s a splendid cover. It’s bold and will definitely demand attention on the newsstand. I wish ELLE would consistently follow this approach. Prove that you don’t need celebrities or top tier crew to turn out a decent cover.”
“Absolutely amazing!” added [Piece Of Me].
