Riccardo Tisci has been at the helm of Burberry since 2018 and we can honestly say that not one advertising campaign under his tenure has truly captivated. The iconic British brand’s latest set of ads put the spotlight on the new Olympia handbag collection inspired by the Olympia London exhibition center where Burberry’s Fall 2020 collection showcase was held. The Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin-shot images feature Tisci muses Kendall Jenner, FKA twigs and Shygirl each posing separately against a clean white backdrop.
The campaign fell under the immediate scrutiny of our forum members. “I miss the days when Riccardo used edgy high fashion models and not the Instagirls. I suppose the casting matches the current state of the brand. Boring and irrelevant,” GivenchyHomme called out.
“All of this is a miss on so many levels. The first being that the bag is hideous. I want to commend Burberry for using a plus-size model in a campaign, but it’s so lazily done I can’t even give them that,” voiced kenndale.

“Everyone responsible for Shygirl’s photos should be in fashion jail. All sorts of hideous! FKA twigs looks only slightly less criminal, but at least they didn’t turn her into a potato in a sack,” said aracic.
THD96 shared the same frame of mind: “Everybody involved in this needs to take a break and recharge because none of them even bother to try anymore.”
“Wow, no way Inez and Vinoodh shot this,” declared badgalcrush.
“I’m not sure what’s worse — the images or the bag,” stated an underwhelmed Serend1pity.
