Smurfette Models Designer Looks for Harper’s Bazaar

While you were getting your tights in a twist about the number of models losing magazine covers, ad campaigns, and even editorial spreads to celebrities, Harper’s Bazaar upped the ante: in their latest issue, the magazine ditched the passe concept of photographing living, breathing people for clothing spreads and got into CGI instead. Forget about the war waging between celebrities and models, forget about the panic over freakish Photoshopped limbs: there’s a new ‘it’ girl in town, and she’s got blue skin. To top it all off, she looks even less like a human than the ultramarine trailblazer, X-Men‘s Mystique. Her name? They call her Smurfette.

Photographed in head-to-toe designer looks by Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Louis Vuitton, and Dolce & Gabbana, the fashion plate won’t wear an outfit that costs less than $2k, and like Princess Diana, Smurfette won’t wear the same garment twice. Even if her style might be gaudy, Smurfette shows no sign of slowing down: the blonde bombshell is starring in The Smurfs, a much-hyped motion picture opening later this summer. Before we know it, this rising star will have 10 million Twitter followers and she’ll be walking the runway for Nicola Formichetti and starring in Chanel campaigns and Magnum ice cream commercials shot by dear Karl Lagerfeld. Mark my words.
