I have to confess that new makeup launches are some of the most confusing events in my life. Sometimes it just seems like every seemingly new shade of pink or grey or green so closely resembles, in hue and quality, every other product that’s ever been on the market.
But, this is different. Even though Daphne Guiness made some insufferable remarks while discussing her new collection—“As Degas said, ‘You have to copy and recopy the masters,’ but you can only do that for so long and then you have to do your own thing”—she did actually create something that pierced through my cosmetic cynicism. Um, OMBRE BLUSH? Magic. Borealis Cremesheen Glass? I don’t even know what that is but I know that I want it. Nebula Pigment? Whatever you are, yes please.
Daphne didn’t just create something new, she built an entire product line around the unrecognizable. And even though I don’t know what most of the items are used for, I’m still looking forward to smearing them all over my face.
