Yesterday we saw Dolce & Gabbana‘s Italian cinema-inspired Spring 2012 menswear campaign. I really liked it and you probably did, too. To double our pleasure, Dolce & Gabbana brought us a new round of movie-inspired images, this time for their Spring womenswear line.
Starring actress Monica Bellucci and model Bianca Balti and photographed by Giampaolo Sgura in Portofino, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana‘s womenswear campaign turns to a different genre of Italian film: the “upbeat comedy.”
Let’s just get this out of the way: Bellucci and Balti both look great (I’d say Bellucci looks better, but that’s only because, unlike Balti, she’s acting in the scenes instead of modeling through them) and so do the clothes and so do the pictures and all-in-all, this is a great campaign. But I can’t help but compare it to the menswear campaign we saw yesterday: I loved the monochromatic color scheme, the grim bawdy touches. Maybe I’m just too distracted by Bianca Balti’s bright, vulgar modeliness in the womenswear campaign: the girl can pose, but I can’t say I’m feeling it.
