In case the challenge is totally new for you, it’s organized by Hong Kong NGO Redress, and challenges emerging designers to create sustainable lines with minimal waste. The eight finalists will be presented with the opportunity to show their eco-friendly designs during Hong Kong Fashion Week in January 2014. The winner will then be selected and take away the prize of creating a sustainable collection for Esprit.
The collections are being judged on sustainability, originality, and marketability, and the UK-based entrants utilized the three sustainable design techniques of zero-waste, upcycling and reconstruction.
Redress is extremely passionate about promoting the creation of sustainable fashion, and working with emerging designers is one of the best ways to do this. From February to March 2014, the finalists’ creations will embark on a travelling exhibition, so get ready to check out the new look of sustainable fashion when it hits London.
