Over on Moda Operandi, the so-called Apricot Washed Double Armure V-Neck Blouse (above, left) is currently featured among the “Most Wanted” items from Marni’s Spring 2014 collection. And no wonder: In addition to its universally flattering color and structural shape, the top is also one of the world’s most cleverly-named garments. In English, “armure” refers to fabric with a pebbled surface texture; in French, the word translates to armor. The garment’s name is both literally descriptive of its own design and also a play on the bilingual double-meaning of the word “armure” — there are hints of knights armor in the blouse’s stiff, pleated shape.
I’ve had my eye on the Marni top, but today I spotted two other appealing apricot pieces from the Spring 2014 collections, also available for pre-order from the luxury e-commerce site. The first is a pared-down, minimalist apricot sweatshirt (above, center) from the Russian designer, Vika Gazinskaya; the second is a shift dress with laser-cut embroidery in the same color, from Alessandro Dell’Acqua‘s No. 21 label. Like the Marni top, both items are tagged “Most Wanted,” indicating a healthy level of demand for boxy pastels, even beyond the pink coat.
