Cate Blanchett is no laughing matter. She’s won Oscars, people. So don’t be asking her crappy, catty questions, because she will be very, very offended and probably even humiliate you on national television. That’s what she did last night, anyway, in an interview on The Project to promote her new film, Cinderella.
Journalist Jonathan Hyla thought he was being pretty funny when he sat down with Cate. “OK, serious question. How were you able to get that cat to do what you wanted to on a leash?” She didn’t want a bar of it. “That’s your question?” she asked, twice, before getting really evil stepmother on his ass. “That’s your f**king question?”
It’s not like the interview was all rainbows and fairies before that little fail, either. Jonathan had already killed the mood by saying he should’ve brought along a six-pack of beer to break the ice. “This date is not going well,” she said, offering an incredible WTF facial to go along with it. “I do not drink beer.”
Things only got worse as the interview progressed, with Cate at one point telling him, “One of us has got to do our job.” Burn. Perhaps our favourite moment, though, was when the award-winning actress tried to make a quick exit, saying, “Nice to meet you,” while gesturing to shake his hand. He couldn’t even do that part of his job, instead opting for a high five as if she were a seven-year-old child.
On ya, Cate. We would’ve sworn too. Watch the full interview here.
