Our forum members were thoroughly unimpressed with Katy Perry’s Jean Paul Goude-shot Harper’s Bazaar cover, but perhaps they might find something inside the magazine that tickles their fancy. This month, Empire‘s Taraji P. Henson appears in the issue, shot by Michael Avedon, decked out in threads from Dolce & Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and even — gasp! — Banana Republic. Empire is getting ready to kick off its second season and Henson’s character Cookie Lyon has been the breakout of the series. It is not only her take-no-shit, git-er-done attitude that draws audiences but her enviable wardrobe that also has viewers tuning in – a wardrobe that we were early fans of.
While many of Lyons’ looks are ones we will never forget, there is one particular outfit of Cookie’s that Henson especially loved. “Alaïa black catsuit, hands down,” she told the magazine, before mentioning that she’s even gone into her own closet to outfit Cookie. “I’ve even worn some of my own stuff, like my Balmain leather. I have to meet [Balmain designer] Olivier Rousteing; I need to be his friend.” Since many of Olivier Rousteing’s famous friends wind up in his campaigns, we’ll be the first to say we are praying this happens.
