If you’ve ever wondered what Rose McGowan would look like bald and five to 100 skin tones lighter, you’re in luck. The queen of kook has truly outdone herself in a wildly weird music video for RM486, which has left us terribly confused, captivated and plain terrified.
The masterpiece, if you will, was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who was behind everything from Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” and “Paparazzi” clips to the On the Run Tour: Beyonce and Jay Z doco.
Jonas also had the help of his wife, B. Åkerlund, for the epic styling, which sees a piercing-lovin’, crucifix-wearing (more satanic than the “honk if you the love Jesus” kind) Rose splashed in blood, glitter and purple hair dye, all while making a serious case for #FreeTheNipple.
“I believe in civil disruption,” Rose told Nowness. “I also think it’s important for bodies to be represented in a non-sexual manner, especially women’s bodies.”
“Recently at a museum there was this woman behind me looking at a nude sketch of a man and she said she’d never let her child around that, and I turned to her and said, ‘Oh really? Would you like your child to first see a penis when it’s erect and coming at her?'” she continued.
“I don’t want to do this kind of thing but I feel like I have to, to stimulate change. You realise when you’re well known that you have won the public election: you are in office of a sort, and what you say does matter.”
This is Rose’s first official musical debut. “In the last few years I’ve actually released some songs under different names, just me pranking the public,” she said. “I woke up one day and realised I hated acting and that I’d always hated it. Imagine, it’s predominantly men whose scripts get done so it was mostly a male voice coming out of my mouth for fifteen years.”
Besides, her “character” for this video probably just outdid all the previous kooks she’s played in Hollywood, even the popsicle deep throating Courtney in Jawbreaker. Her 1998 VMAs look? Child’s play. Seriously, we’re having nightmares tonight, and, after you watch this clip (above), so will you.

Sweet dreams.
