Gigi Hadid Would Like Internet Trolls to Stop Shaming Her Body

When you’re a supermodel, things aren’t always as peachy keen as they seem. Just ask Gigi Hadid, who took to her social media outlets today to let everyone know that being upheld as the standard of beauty in our society isn’t what it’s all cracked up to be – you still get unwanted haters. Hadid has been affected by negative comments she’s been getting on social media lately, particularly about her body.

“No, I don’t have the same body types as the other models in shows. No, I don’t think I’m the best in any given show. Yes, I have a unique walk but I know I have to improve. No, I’m not the first or last model of my type in this industry,” she wrote. “You can make up all the reasons as to why you think I am where I am, but really, I’m a hard worker, confident in myself, one that came at a time where the fashion industry was ready for change.”

She continues, “I represent a body image that wasn’t accepted in high fashion before, and I’m very lucky to be supported by the designers, stylists and editors that I am: ones that know this is fashion, it’s art; it can never stay the same. It’s 2015. But if you’re not one of those people, don’t take your anger out on me. Yes, I have boobs, I have abs, I have a butt, I have thighs, but I’m not asking for special treatment. I’m fitting into the sample sizes.”

Body shaming anyone, regardless of size, is unacceptable and this just goes to show that no one is immune to unsolicited rude comments from haters — even a supermodel.
