How it works in a nutshell: the Looncup has its own app, which you download to your phone or Apple Watch in order to sync with your cup. Once the cup is inserted, it checks your menstrual cycle via a sensor and alerts you in real time as the cup fills. In other words, never risk overflowing again. It can also help you predict upcoming periods and can monitor the color of your menstruation blood for signs of stress or lack of sleep.
According to the brand, “Loonacup can do so much more than a tampon, pad, or even a regular menstrual cup. It’s the world’s first smart menstruation cup, and you’ll love the way it tells you how full it is, and when it’s time to refresh. Loonacup can even track your fluid volume, and tell you about your fluid color and cycle. Try finding a tampon, pad, or cup that can do all that!”

While it might sound somewhat creepy to have an electronic device text you from inside your body, it turns out that women are actually into the tech savvy idea. The company has already raised $37k of its $50k goal on Kickstarter to date, and the product will officially launch January 2016. It’s a good option for those that want to be more environmentally friendly, or if you just plain hate using tampons and pads.
