Michelle Obama’s State of the Union Dress Sold Out Immediately

If you tweeted using the State of the Union hashtag last night, you may have found yourself in the midst of a heated debate. The impassioned dispute wasn’t about foreign policy or climate change (though we’re sure those conversations were happening somewhere). Instead, people were speculating about the color of the First Lady’s dress.

Was it mango? Marigold? A new color invented specifically for Michelle Obama to brighten up the room…and our lives? Team Marigold ultimately had the last laugh when Narciso Rodriguez sent out a press release describing the dress as “marigold wool crepe.”

Before the State of the Union address ended, Mrs. Obama’s $2,095 dress, on sale for $628 at Neiman Marcus, had sold out everywhere. The First Lady also wore Narciso Rodriguez on election night in 2008. Talk about going out in style.
