The Bachelorette’s Richie Strahan Is the New Bachelor

“To be honest I couldn’t believe they called me up to ask,” Strahan told News Corp Australia about the news.

“I’m a very private person and it’s a really big decision to put yourself out in the public arena again. I found it really hard to open up on The Bachelorette last year, but the end decision was that (by doing the show) I could meet a girl who I could pretty much spend the rest of my life with. It’s a pretty big carrot.”

A hopeless romantic at heart (swoon) 30-year-old Strahan also said that he had a bit of trouble dating again since being dumped on national TV by Frost. Spending a month or two mending his broken heart, despite his lifestyle as a fly-in-fly-out worker, has made it hard for him to find the time to let love back into his life.

Even if he did, Richie is more of your all-Aussie bloke who love fishing and BBQs more than nightclubs and bars, so he’s not often inundated with offers. As for the much storied world of dating apps, Strahan said Tinder and the like aren’t his ‘cup of tea’.

‘Cos going on a national reality show to find love is so much more normal, right? Say it together now: Cool bananas!
