Beyoncé’s Official Tour Merchandise Throws All the Shade

“Boycott Beyoncé,” read the marketing genius’ official tour merchandise.

This message is decidedly not directed at “her beautiful husband” Jay Z, to whom Beyoncé dedicated her closing song “Halo” despite the rumors of marital discord that popped up following the release of Beyoncé’s seemingly autobiographical visual album, Lemonade. No, this P.S.A. is for Javier Ortiz, the Miami Fraternal Order of Police president who claimed Miami police would boycott the superstar’s opening performance. It’s also a nod — or rather a head tilt — to those who criticized Bey’s transcendent, politically charged Super Bowl 2016 performance, especially the three singular haters who later showed up at NFL headquarters to protest the halftime show. As well as, you know, anyone else who might stand in her way.

Beyoncé has already clarified that she takes no issue with police officers: “I mean, I’m an artist and I think the most powerful art is usually misunderstood. But anyone who perceives my message as anti-police is completely mistaken,” the multiplatinum artist told ELLE. “I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let’s be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things.”

Unsurprisingly, the Miami Police Department had no trouble rounding up a concert detail: “There was no one who had to be put in on a voluntary basis,” a spokesman for the local PD told the Miami New Times. “The concert will be fully staffed.” — Because who would pass up a chance to watch Bey slay Lemonade live and get paid overtime to boot?

For those still salty, like the obstinate Ortiz who, despite all evidence, believes the boycott was a success — “Out of our 1,100 members, less than 30 people signed up [to work the show],” he asserted — may we direct you to a merch tent? Shirts (and iPhone cases) are going fast and yes, you may make that $45 check out directly to Beyoncé.
