Taylor Swift’s VMAs Dress Switch Is as Dramatic as It Is Fun

Taylor Swift arrived all glammed up for her black carpet appearance at the 2024 MTV VMAs, opting for a plaid twist and a daring look. However, the 34-year-old artist decided to grace her fans and followers with not one but two show-stopping outfits. During the event, Swift switched to a mini-dress, which was dramatic, fun, and an ode to her musical journey. Not only did she impress the audience with her outfits, but she also scored big and took home seven trophies.

When Taylor Swift arrived at the 2024 MTV VMAs at UBS Arena in New York on September 11, she was decked out in a glamorous Dior outfit. Putting a hot spin on plaids, the singer paired a yellow plaid bustier top with attached black velvet short pants. She completed her black carpet look with leather gloves and thigh-high boots. Swift’s glam makeup gave vamp vibes, which included smokey eyes, side-swept bangs, and flowy hair with textures pulled into the front on one end.

According to People Magazine, Swift wore Stuart Weitzman’s Maverick boots and accessorized the outfit with Lorraine Schwartz diamond earrings. While this outfit already left fans feeling excited, the dramatic twist came when Swift changed her outfit after getting inside the award show to a mini-dress with a UFO on the front. As expected, the singer stole the spotlight at the VMAs with the outfit.

The outlet further revealed details that Swift paired the blue and green custom Monse dress with Rainbow K diamond horn earrings. Meanwhile, the dress was indicative of a subtle nod to her song “Down Bad” from her recent album, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Internet users quickly recognized the vibes of the outfit, calling it the “Down Bad dress.”

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift won several awards at the 2024 VMAs, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of Summer, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, and more.
