The cover, however, received mixed reviews across the board. “I think it looks stunning, always love her back on the cover of Vogue, and I don’t even mind the bad styling, because she looks so gorgeous,” said Miss Dalloway.
“I really like it. When I read the title I was expecting much worse. Their best cover in a while,” declared MyNameIs.
Also full of appreciation was LastNight: “I think it’s beautiful. It’s nice to get a real background after months of studio backdrops and blurred out scenery.”
RanThe felt the same way, adding, “Angelina looks simply gorgeous on the cover. I love the fact that she is on the beach on the cover to go along with the film By the Sea and I think it’s appropriate for November. It looks chilly but very natural. This is hands down the best cover of the year along with Lupita’s and Serena’s.”
The rest of us were left slightly underwhelmed. “That could be an ELLE cover! So cheap!” complained jeffandtheworld.
“I thought I’d like this, but it feels like it’s trying too hard to be authentic through some really artificial means… contrived casual,” tigerrouge disapproved.
“Who is going to tell Leibovitz that she should retire?” asked Les_Sucettes.
