Our forums went into meltdown when Kendall Jenner graced the cover of US Vogue‘s Special Edition issue back in March (ultimately scoring the September cover months later). Now, Gigi Hadid (who was just on the cover for August 2016) stars on the magazine’s newly unveiled special edition for Fall 2016, aptly themed “It Girl Style.” Photographed by Gregory Harris, Gigi is all smiles wearing a bold red lip and a stunning sequin Altuzarra dress at the beach.
Yet the majority of our forum members weren’t buying it whatsoever. “Why do they need these special edition covers with models who have already been on the cover? First Kendall and now Gigi. I wish they could give this chance to some new faces or one of their favorites like Imaan [Hammam]. By the way, the shot is not bad but this cover feels very unnecessary to me,” stated apple the moment we took a first look at the cover.
“Exactly! I don’t understand these special editions either! You are after teenagers but will they shell out almost 13 dollars for such a thin issue? Why?!” asked a dumbfounded Miss Dalloway.
“They already have Teen Vogue, why do they feel the need to do this?” questioned harricks.
Urban Stylin wasn’t exactly thrilled either. “This is now a joke,” he wrote in embarrassment.
Everyone else, however, was more pleased for photographer Gregory Harris. “It might be time to hire Greg Harris for a cover try because this is 10x better than her August cover shot by Testino,” declared RanThe.
Feeling the same way was Benn98, replying, “Agreed about Gregory Harris! This would be an ideal main cover for them. I also like that it’s not your typical beach shot, it looks more like a desert type of landscape.”
“It reminds me of some US Vogue covers from the early 2000s. I’d like to see him do some covers too,” echoed t-rex.
