Edie Campbell Is the Latest Michael Kors Woman to Be Stuck in the Back Seat of a Car

Michael Kors likes to drop hints about who will score the campaign for each collection by having his chosen favorite open the show during New York Fashion Week. Last season went to Joan Smalls, before that was Freja Beha Erichsen and now it’s Edie Campbell’s turn to play the role of the Kors woman. Though the model may have changed, the campaign concept sure hasn’t. You guessed it: Edie is captured in the back of a vintage car (now a firm Michael Kors staple) by photographer Mario Testino.

Members of our forums weren’t here for the played-out concept. “Tragic how many times this has been done before, also by other brands. Edie looks good though,” admitted anlabe32.

“Must say, the third shot is rather nice, and Edie looks good. But yes, this concept is way past its sell-by date,” replied Benn98.

Tigerrouge was also over the tired Kors aesthetic, saying, “The Michael Kors woman has been stuck in the back seat of a car for so long, she might need to consider a new ‘career’. One where she could afford a hotel room. Or maybe she’s offering mobile services.”

Concagon wasn’t a fan of the casting. “It’s tragic to have Edie front the campaign. She is anything but a Michael Kors woman. Natalia, Gisele, Daria or Raquel would be amazing for this brand,” he suggested.

“The recession has hit the Michael Kors customer hard. No more private jets, yachts, or helicopters for this girl!” GivenchyHomme laughed, referring back to the previous jet-set lifestyle Michael Kors advertising campaigns.
